Why do I avoid using my air fryer?

There are so many reasons why air fryers don’t get used. From too busy to learn how to use it, to simple fear of the unknown, and EVERYTHING in between!

But there’s absolutely NO reason why you can’t use your air fryer confidently, every single day. Without making costly mistakes!

It really is easier than you think. And no, it won’t take weeks, months or years. You can become a confident air fryer user in a matter of days.

Yes, really!

Why your air fryer is collecting dust

First, let’s take a closer look at all the reasons you might be avoiding your air fryer, or putting off learning how to use it. And why it’s just sat there collecting dust on the kitchen side…

1. You bought the wrong air fryer

It’s all well and good owning an air fryer, but if the model you bought doesn’t work for your current lifestyle? It’s going to cause you some unnecessary headaches, and you’ll likely stop using it.

For example, are you a family of 5 and only have a tiny 1 drawer air fryer? You’ll end up cooking lots of batches, which is time consuming and not very energy efficient. The same goes for if you only cook for 1 or 2 people, and you have an overly large air fryer. That’s a lot of extra washing and energy used, when it really doesn’t need to be.

2. You keep using your oven

You avoid using your air fryer due to lack of confidence, or just use your oven because it’s familiar. You might pass up on your air fryer because you don’t have the time to learn how to use it properly. Circling back to reason 1 – you might have bought an air fryer that doesn’t suit your needs, and then get frustrated and opt for your oven instead.

It all boils down to either lack of knowledge, time and/or confidence. And I can fix ALL THREE of those things for you! (Keep reading for the solution…)

3. You got duped by useless accessories

There are so many air fryer accessories out there. Without buying and testing them all, there’s no real way to know what’s good, and what is downright AWFUL.

You might have got excited and bought lots of shiny new air fryer accessories, and then realised that you can’t or won’t be able to use them. There’s nothing more disappointing than knowing you’ve wasted your hard earned money.

Turning your back on your air fryer at this point, feels like the easiest thing to do. But I promise, I have answers that will help!

4. You’re scared of getting it dirty because you don’t know how to clean it

After owning multiple air fryers for several years now, I’ve learnt the easy way to keep your air fryer clean… and the hard way. And I can tell you, the hard way isn’t much fun.

But there are preventative measures you can take to keep your life simple! And, even if your air fryer does get incredibly dirty, there are ways you can clean it. And it’s not difficult, expensive or complicated. Especially when you do it the easy step by step Kitchen Mason way! (More on where to get this later.)

5. You don’t understand how air fryers work

This circles back to fear of the unknown. If you don’t understand how something works, it’s going to inhibit both what you can do with the machine, AND your confidence.

Knowledge is power! And there are some really fast ways of getting to know your air fryer while boosting that confidence of yours at the same time.

6. You don’t understand the settings

Another reason your air fryer is collecting dust is that you don’t really understand the settings. This also ties in with reason 3 (you keep using your oven) and reason 5 (you don’t understand how air fryers work).

If you don’t get to know your machine, you’re setting yourself up to fail. But this one is an easy fix! There are some really quick and simple things you can do to gain a better understanding of your air fryer settings. No matter what model you have! They don’t take long, and you’ll feel more confident using your air fryer going forward.

7. You’re scared of making costly mistakes

Ok, so this is a big one. No one likes wasting money that they’ve worked hard to earn. So if you’ve ever over or undercooked food and it’s been wasted as a result, or if you’ve damaged your air fryer, your confidence will have been knocked significantly.

But I promise, you can get that confidence back. It won’t take forever and a day, and it won’t be overwhelming. It’s much more easy to achieve than you think. And when you have the knowledge you need to be completely confident, you’ll be MUCH less likely to make costly mistakes.

8. You don’t know what you can and can’t air fry

Surprisingly, this is one that puts the majority of people off air frying. And again, it just comes down to a lack of knowledge and confidence. Both of which are really quick and easy to boost, if you know where to look!

9. You don’t write things down

So you air fried something that turned out AMAZING. But you didn’t write anything down, and have now completely forgotten everything you did. And can’t be bothered to figure it all out again. So you just stop using your air fryer.

It’s all about making notes and keeping everything together in one handy to reach place. And I have the perfect solution for making this SUPER easy!

10. You lack confidence because of self doubt

It can seem very difficult and daunting to do something on your own. It’s one of the many reasons we keep putting things off. And it doesn’t help that we’re our own worst critics! That self doubt always has a way of sneaking in and put an end to our potential achievements.

This is why schools and universities work so well! You have a teacher. Someone who is there to support you all the way, and is usually your biggest cheerleader!

Yes, you have to put in the work to get results. But achieving that always seems so much easier when you have someone in your corner.

Guess what? I can fix this too!!

Picture this…

Great article, Emma. I do use my air fryer often but won't cook anything in it that will create grease. I am No 4. I clean my air fryer after every use including turning it upside down and cleaning the element. I do suffer from OCD so struggle with cooking bacon even on the cooker.

Hi Jayne. You can absolutely cook greasy things in your air fryer, so long as you care for it properly afterwards. I understand OCD symptoms are incredibly difficult to overcome though. You might find my new course Get Air Fryer Confident FASTER! really helpful! It launches on Weds 27th November. Make sure to check back for a REALLY BIG special offer! Emma x
