Soooo, melted chocolate, toasted marshmallows & biscuit. You just know it’s gona be good right?! I’ll get straight to the point. You are gona make this. You know you are, don’t fight it. Let it embrace you like a silky, chocolatey, marshmallow hug. Then dunk your shortbread biscuits into it’s smooth, fluffy centre… ok I’m having a Homer moment. Just trust me, you need this in your life, so get on it!
Here is what you will need to serve 3 – 4. (Depending on greed levels)
Preheat your oven to 230°C/Fan 210°C.
Place the butter into the cast iron dish and pop into the oven for a few minutes until the butter is melted & the dish is nice and hot. (This will help the chocolate chips to melt from the bottom as they take longer to melt than marshmallows do to toast.)
Then remove from the oven and carefully level the chocolate chips out in the bottom. Watch you don’t burn yourself.
Top with the halved marshmallows so you can’t see any of the chocolate chips anymore.
Bake in the centre of the preheated oven for about 5 – 7 minutes. Keep an eye on it though, as marshmallows can go from toasted to burnt very quickly!
When the marshmallows are at your desired level of toastiness, remove from the oven and serve with some shortbread biscuits. You can use graham crackers if you’re from the US but here in the UK, we don’t have them.
It also goes without saying, be careful that you don’t burn your hands when dunking in the biscuits. In particular, children should be supervised by an adult at all times as cast iron retains heat for quite a while.
It is a thing of beauty though is it not? It’s one of those desserts that takes next to no brain power to make but creates seriously impressive results! I don’t know one of my friends that wouldn’t love me forever if I brought this out at a dinner party. It’s just so devilishly good! And as I have said many times before, if you’re going to do something wrong, do it right!
I hope you enjoyed the post my lovelies, until next time.
