The other week I shared a Mexican Butter Popcorn recipe with you all. It really excited me in the ways of savoury popcorn, having previously been solely a true toffee popcorn lover. After dipping my toes in the savoury popcorn pool, I thought I’d just dive straight in. This Crunchy Garlic Parmesan Popcorn recipe is insanely quick to make and OMG delicious! A perfect snack for film night or when the big game is on.
Here is what you will need to make a BIG bowl.
- 100g Popcorn Kernels
- 1-2 tbsp Rice Bran Oil
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder/Granules
- 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 75g Parmesan, finely grated
- Salt & Pepper

- Very Large Lidded Saucepan
Garlic Parmesan Popcorn Recipe
Heat the oil in the saucepan over a medium high heat. To test the temperature, throw a kernel in. When it pops, it’s hot enough! When it is, add all the kernels, put the lid on and shake a little. Turn the heat down to medium low once they start popping.
Keep shaking the pan occasionally until you can’t here anymore popping.
While it’s still hot, throw in the garlic, paprika, parmesan and a little salt & pepper. Give it a quick mix then pop the lid back on to allow the cheese to melt.
Tip into a large bowl and serve immediately!
This really is a beautiful snack. I absolutely love that some of the parmesan slips down to the bottom of the pan and creates an almost crispy parmesan tuille. When that all breaks up and mixes in with the popcorn… wow! Little crispy bits of salty parmesan and crunchy garlic popcorn. Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Garlic parmesan popcorn is a winner.
