Here is what you will need to serve 4.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 200g Smoked Sausage, Sliced
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, Crushed
  • 500 ml Chicken Stock
  • 300 ml Double Cream
  • 1 tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 250g Tortiglioni Pasta *
  • 50g Parmesan Cheese, Grated
  • Handful of Fresh Parsley, Chopped (Optional)

*You can use any dried pasta shapes you like

Essential Equipment

  • Large Saucepan

Instructions

First heat your large saucepan over a medium heat. When the pan is hot, add the oil and sliced sausage. Cook for a few minutes until it browns a little then add the garlic and cook for another minute or two until fragrant.

Then add the stock, cream and cajun seasoning. Give it a good mix and bring it up to the boil.

Next add in the pasta, give it a quick stir and bring back to the boil again. Reduce the heat to a simmering boil and cook for 15-20 minutes until the pasta is cooked to your liking.

Make sure to stir it frequently, particularly towards the end as you don’t want it to catch and burn on the bottom.

Finally, when the pasta is cooked, add in the parmesan cheese and give it a good old mix until it’s melted and evenly distributed.

If you like you can stir through a handful of chopped fresh parsley or simply scatter some on top for garnish. With or without, this is going to taste amazing – don’t worry!

This Cajun Sausage Pasta is SO good that the Mr gave it a huge thumbs up AND my 2yr old daughter wolfed it down. That’s a massive seal of approval right there!

In all seriousness, this is a properly delicious dinner that is insanely easy to make and even easier to clean up after. There is literally nothing to not love about this recipe! I implore you to give it a try for yourself and see.

Hi Dawn. I’m so happy you love my site and want to start using the recipes! There are printer friendly versions on all new and updated posts. I have been running Kitchen Mason for a long time though and there are quite a few old posts that sadly aren’t printer friendly. I’m working on correcting this but, I’m sure you can appreciate, it’s quite time consuming. Emma x

Is there anything else you could use/make apart from double cream? I'm just really not good about the thought of it being in pasta or curry sauce-silly I know! Would a plain white sauce do? I'm also terrible with things like mascarpone or cream cheese as well-so stupid I know!

By plain white sauce - do you mean a bechamel sauce? If so, I don't think you could straight substitute it. You'd have to cook the pasta and sauce separately if you wanted to use that and remove the chicken stock all together. I hope that makes sense?
